Need to know how to replace palmrest and keyboard on HPDV6000

Close the laptop and flip it upside down on a table. There will be 3-4 screws on the bottom with a rectangular icon embossed next to them that looks something like a keyboard. Remove these screws. Flip the computer back right side up and open the display as far as it will go. Look at the top of the keyboard and see if there are four small plastic sliders between keys on the top row of keys. Most models have these, but not all. If you do have them, use a small flat bladed screwdriver to slide them towards you appoximately 1/8 inch. Finally, gently pry under the top of the keyboard(where the F keys are) to pivot the keyboard out of the computer. With some models there is double sided tape under the keyboard so there may be some resistance. However, don't force it to hard or you will break it if you missed a screw. With a few models, there will be 1 or 2 screws hidden under access panels, i.e. memory, hard drive, etc. so be careful of this. If it doesn't come off relatively easy, search for more screws on the back. Finally, you need to remove the cable from the motherboard. There is a plastic compression connector for this that you will need to gently pry out with a small flat bladed screwdriver. This will release the tension on the cable and it can easily be pulled out afterwards. If you try to pull it out before releasing this you will almost certainly damaged the cable. The palm rest is part of the top cover assembly. You will have to remove a lot of the guts of the laptop to get this out. Here is a link to the service manual where you can find some good drawings and the proper procedure: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01035677.pdf It also describes keyboard removal but there are a few steps not covered very well which is why I added the above paragraphs.

I have an IBM thinkpad x41 and it comes to the Windows xp screen needing a password and I dont know the password can someone help me?

You can use Ophcrack, an open source software. You don't need any access to Windows to be able to recover your lost passwords. Simply visit the site, download the free ISO image, burn it to a CD and boot from the CD. The Ophcrack program starts, locates the Windows user accounts, and proceeds to recover (crack) the passwords - all automatically. Here is the link to download you ISO file to burn to a cd.http://downloads.sourceforge.net/ophcrack/ophcrack-xp-livecd-2.3.1.isoOr use Another computer by installing the exe file and make a cd for your recovery:http://downloads.sourceforge.net/ophcrack/ophcrack-win32-installer-3.3.1.exe

Keyboard Jiberish I have a Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook T4010D Tablet PC. I was using it outside when it started to rain. I got it out of the rain and I'm pretty sure it didn't get wet. I did however keep using it for about 3 hours when the keyboard became unresponsive. I shut it down and when I restatrted a few days later the keyboard writes jiberish. Every key does something other than what it should do. I'm thinking that the keyboard must have got wet and therefore needs replacing. Also, the 4 tablet buttons aren't working. Any ideas?

It could also be the logic board. Usually, there are weep / drainage holes in the bottom of the laptop. See if there's any traces of moisture there, and you'll know if it got wet or not.Sounds like it could have been wet. You could try replacing the keyboard.

Toshiba R100 keyboard not working

I did the same some two years ago, with the R100 on. I switched everything off, dismounted the computer body (not the screen)up to the last screw, and dried that sweet coffee from everywhere where I found it. Mostly this was the keyboard and mouse. The motherboard is luckily protected by some plastic sheet. Regarding the keyboard, after disconnecting it from the motherboard, I washed it completely under flowing water and then let it dry for several days. In the meantime, I used a USB one. Since then, I used the same keyboard for two years until now, when it died, apparently rather from some motherboard-related reason than water. So I think - you may get a new keyboard, but if youre lucky, you may as well revive this old one.
