AC Port shorting out

That definatly sounds like you need to replace the jack for sure....I have fixed two toshiba's with the same problem myself. To get it done in the store you are probably looking at $150-300. Least that is what it was here. So i decided to buy the part i needed off ebay, take the laptops apart and resolder the jack on.

I have a HP/Compaq TC4400 tablet pc. I recently had to replace the motherboard and now have a problem with booting. I get the following message: The following configuration change was requested to this computers Trusted platform module(TPM): Allow a user to take ownership of the TPM Then it gives me only one option f1 to boot. When I choose F1 it asks me for a setup password. The individual I purchased it from told me that I am getting this error because i have the wrong CPU installed. This appears to me to be a password set on my used mother board. Does anyone have any suggestions how I can get this unit up and running. Thanks Damon

The problem is with the CPU compatibility with the bios. It is fixable, but can take a bit of patience. If you upgraded your cpu along with your mainboard, take your old cpu and put it in your new motherboard. That should allow you to boot past the F1 prompt. You don't have to completely reassemble the system to do the following, just screw down the heatsink so that the cpu doesn't overheat. Leave the fan unscrewed, but placed normally so that it carries the heat away from the cpu. (You can get instructions to take apart the laptop via a pdf file from the hp support website. Use the file for the Memory Modules, it's a bit more detailed, but download the maintenance and Service guide as it covers everything.) Download the latest bios for your system from the HP support website. sp40187.exe is the latest bios update file that I found. I created a bootable usb with the bios update following the directions on the hp support site. If you don't have a small usb drive just create a bootable cd following the instructions from the .exe file that you downloaded. Place the USB or cd in your laptop and power on.Hit F9 to show the boot menu. Choose the USB or cd to boot from.It will run the bios update utility. Follow the directions to update the bios. After you have updated the bios, check the version number by hitting F10 and viewing the system information from bios. I would let it boot up once just to make sure and then replace your cpu, with the newer one. Reassemble your system. The bios should recognize the newer cpu and you can install your operating system, if it's not already installed.Be careful of the plastic around the screw holes inside the system. It can be a bit brittle and tends to break easily.
