When the wandering starts it means that your touchscreen is about shot. It can be fixed by those who know how to do it. But usually replacement is the option.

My company uses Panasonic Toughbook CF-18. We have ones that are over a year old, over 6 month old, and even just a few months old. In the past few weeks we started experiencing a problem where the units are shutting off by themselves. Totally losing power and shutting off. It doesn't happen when plugged into AC Power. The units only shut off when they are tapped hard or hit somewhere. Sometimes also by a quick movement or even when you close the LCD screen. We tried using spacers (a foam piece between the battery and the battery door) to stop or limit battery movement. Although this helps, it doesn't solve the problem. No matter how tight and what measures I take to keep the battery in it's place, chalking it until it can't moves. The unit still shut off when impacted. Can't some other internal component be causing this? What else can I do?

The battery interface has broken away from main board at the limit stop. Requires trained tech to repair. You mentioned these are new.. Cf 18 have been discontinued for years. Are these cf19's

Try to charge the battery with the Panasoniv programm: Calibration Utility. I think is a battery problem.

My Panasonic Toughbook T2 was shut down properly and kept for about a month. now it does not boot. Even inital BIOS check function is not performed. Though HDD movement can be heard. Checked RAM by replacing with other.Scree remains blank/dark. HELP

It sounds too simple but try to remove the battery pack from your Toughbook, and make sure the TB is unplugged. Leave the battery pack out, and plug back in. Try to start the unit. ALL Toughbooks have the problem that is the battery goes too low then the unit will not boot. If it works, then you have solved a complicated problem with a very SIMPLE solution. Good Luck! It sounds like you have a ToughBook with a NON-US Keyboard or keyboard layout. The physical "SLASH" key is the last key on the bottom row above the SPACEBAR row. It is the key on the FAR right side just to the left of the right-side SHIFT key. Make sure in the taskbar that the EN sign is shown (on the bottom right side of the screen next to the date/time. If it is shown FR or ES then your keyboard is in French or Spanish. You can try to use the ALT+SHIFT key combination to toggle the FR or ES back to EN (English). If not, then you must ADD the English keyboard in the Control Panel under Regional Settings (Clock, Language and Region in Windows 7). Under Keyboards Click "keyboard" then Click "add" then choose English (United States), Keyboard then US (only). That is it. Make sure you select US as "Default" and then you won't have to go thru all this ever again. Good Luck! Regards, Richard - Montreal Based Panasonic Canada Toughbook Authorized Dealer since 1989.
