If you are getting a Blue screen repeatedly and you can't start up to windows in any custom setting ( from f8 start up menu ) one way to solve the problem is to Use the restore disc or windows installation cd or dvd to install windows into the computer or perform a repair installation if a windows already exists on the computer and the setup can find it.how to perform a repair installationthis is for xp, but its similar on 2000 and on vista.insert your Windows XP Setup CD, and restart your computer.1.When the Press any key to boot from CD message is displayed on your screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD.if not then the computer is not set to start up from a cd, you can either enter the setup / bios to change that setting OR right when you power up the computer look at the screen it will say what button to press in order to enter boot menu or bios, it will very likely be button F12 or similar, it should say on the screen when you power on.if it doesn't, then you need to go into the bios and change the boot order so that the computer starts from the CD first.after that you should be able to start from the cd and install the OS (Operating system, eg.Windows) here's some info on how to work the bios: http://www.whitecanyon.com/how-to-change-boot-order.php Repeat step 1 when you have changed the boot order.2.Press ENTER when you see the message To setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the Welcome to Setup screen.3.Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console.4.In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement.5.Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP.6.Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup.7.Ones windows is working you will need the drivers for your computer, they are at the makers website, for hp and compaq. www.hp.com for acer http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/downloads.html for all other brands go to google and write Brand drivers. Should get you to the right place. Dell is most likely www.dell.com and so on.

FixYa solutions for every thing Resent problems with my Gateway CX200X Tablet PC made me believe it was infected beyond a virus scan repair. It would NOT let me Virus scan, quick restore to a previous date, go to safe mode it would divert to set up screen and it would not read restore disc. I took out the internal battery and exterior battery over night and the next day quick restored to a month earlier then full scanned twice with Microsoft Essentials, cleaned the disc and defragged. It still would divert to setup screen instead of safe mode. MSN Messenger would repeatedly return to startup list after running msconfig, even though I removed it from the computer. The last straw was when after many adjustments to Power options, the screen would turn off not the hard drive or go into standby. Nor, would the screen come back on. I manually induced standby using the FN and F3 buttons. It worked, for about a half hour when the computer started on it's own. After saving what I needed off the hard drive to a Flash Stick, I full restored using the 2 discs except just before it was done (about 93%) it would turn off the laptop. Restart would show blue screen showing, NTLDR is missing. I removed the receiver for wireless mouse and... Restored again, and c000021a (fatal system error). Restored again, "windows could not start the following is missing or corrupt: windows root>\system32\ntsoskrnl.exe" Restored again, windows could not start the following is missing or corrupt: windows root>\system32\HAL,DLL. Restored again, windows could not start the following is missing or corrupt: windows root>\system32\RMCast.sys Is the corruption on the hard drive or in deeper? Would replacing the HDD be the cure?

Estrange characters appears in my tecra m4 645 nvidia

The video card has unseated or is fried due to overheating. The typical repair is to replace the entire motherboard which will cost about US$600 from a technician. The graphics chip GPU is soldered onto the motehrboard. I ahve heard some people cooking the GPU to reflow the solder if it is an unseated GPU chip that came loose but I have not tried this myself. This is a common problem of Tecra M4's and I have been through this problem 4 times in the past 4 years, each with expensive motherboard replacements.

Virus or PC problem?

Sounds like a hardware problem. And since your computer is failing like that, my guess is it is the hard drive making that noise. You need to isolate the location of that noise. If it is coming from the hard drive I suggest you back up your data *immediately* using some kind of CDROM based disk imaging software where you can boot to the cd (so you use the hard drive as little as possible). One such program is Image For Linux (http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/image-for-linux.htm)

When I start the computer, it runs good until just before the user login. mouse shows up, but it practically doesn't come out of the black screen, until a crash screen shows. Unmountable_boot_volume We have 10 tablets that we use in the field for real time charting (we are a hospice). These computers are then synced to the main back office. We have had intermittant problems with communication but in the last two weeks one computer's screen went black and we have not been able to get it started (tried a new battery). The other could not link to the back office and I got HP error messages re: scheduling, security and internet access. The messages recommended doing a recover which I began and soon received the subject message. I cannot seem to restart the computer-it goes to to recover mode and gives me the same error message. Any ideas?

There are 2 possible causes for that error1 - most likely the hard disk has died. replace it and reinstall.2 - the file system (even the one on the recovery partition) has been totally corrupted, a full reinstall from an external media is mandatory.
