Gateway tablet screen does not respond to pen.

I have a Gateway CX2724 and previously had another Gateway tablet (model I don't remember) but they both look alike and use the same pens. I've had 3 pens and they all periodically stop working. When one stops, I pick up another pen and work with it so that makes me think the problem has more to do with the pen. (They have all died and later come alive.) Sometimes though I can't find the extra pen and have resorted to removing the working pen tip / nib and reinserting it very snugly after wiping off the shaft. The nib is held in merely by friction. You can remove it by pinching its little tip between your fingernails and pulling it straight out. I wipe off the shaft and put it snugly back in. Sometimes I don't take it out, but just press it harder into the pen by pushing it firmly onto a padded surface (so that the tip doesn't deform.) Usually one of these "treatments" works. I know that extra nibs are available with the pen. There must be some reason that the manufacturer thinks they may need to be replaced periodically. But I've never seen any documentation on this.

Gateway tablet cx200X, tablet features won't work/ pen etc

All, There is DEFINITELY A PEN IN THE CX2620 stylii. I just replaced mine with a AAAA battery. The old one (which is a AAAA size, you can find these inside 9-volt batteries) had acid buildup on its positive end and that is why the pen went inactive. There is a lot of debate over this pen problem and I guarantee 90% of the time it's related to the battery. I can do a clean replace on anybody's CX2620 pen/stylii with a fresh battery for $10. If interested email me at [email protected] . You pay for shipping, your total about $17 or so. I have never done this before but I just replaced mine flawlessly so I can do others. I know there are a lot of dead stylii out there and people don't know what to do, took me a while to figure it out. Thanks, Kevin Teman [email protected]

Gateway M275 display scambles

I suspect it may be a problem with the video cable coming from the convertible tablet, up through the hinged support for the LCD screen, AND/OR the screen Inverter.I would like you to connect a VGA monitor, to the VGA port on the back of the convertible tablet. The VGA monitor will now be an External Monitor.[ Looking at the rear of the convertible tablet, start at the Left side.Vent, USB port, Monitor port. The Monitor port is the VGA port ]The VGA monitor can be a CRT type, (Looks like a small TV), or a flat LCD screen monitor with a VGA cable.Notebook OFF, monitor OFF, connect the VGA monitor to the M275's VGA connector. (Port)Turn the monitor on. If a CRT type, allow it to warm up.Turn the notebook on.By the factory default settings, whatever is shown on the convertible tablet's internal monitor, should now be shown on the external monitor.(VGA monitor)If not, press, and hold down on the Fn key (On the bottom row of the Keyboard, all the way to the Left), and tap once on the F3 key.(Top row of Function keys. The F3 key is the Display Toggle-Over Key )No graphics shown on the external monitor? Hold down on the Fn key again, and tap the F3 key again. There are at least three options available;1) Convertible tablet's internal monitor - ONLY2) Convertible tablet, AND external monitor3) External monitor - ONLYIf graphics are fine on the external monitor, you have a problem with the video cable, and/or the screen Inverter. At this time we will bypass the LCD screen, and come back to it.At the bottom/middle of the tablet's LCD screen, is the Hinge. The Hinge Cover is 'T shaped', and has one single Philips screw holding it on.If you remove the screw, and the Hinge Cover, you will see two wire harnesses. One Black, the other White.See that these two cables are plugged in tightly to the connector. After checking this step come back in a Comment, and state your findings.Regards, joecoolvette[ Additionally; Here is the Service Manual (Free) for the Gateway M275 Convertible Tablet,http://www.tim.id.au/blog/tims-laptop-service-manuals/#toc-gatewayWhere it states - Gateway 400, go down to the second line, and across to M275. Left-click on M275.This is a PDF file. It may take up to 30 seconds before the first page comes up.

Gateway M275 Screen Wobbes

I had the same problem. Look on ebay for the swivle hinge base. Should be able to get one for less than 15 dollars shipped. 4 screws on the bottom and one under the bezel above the keyboard holds it in. plus the 2 that hold the metal hinge/wire cover. 3 plugs, ease the wires out of the motherboard. i don't think it is possible to tighten the bushing.

Touch screen not working

Have you tried a new battery in the stylus? They require AAAA size batteries. The first time my pen went out I thought it was the computer not responding, but it turned out to be a dead stylus battery.

Upgraded Gateway M275 Tablet pc to win7 and it runs like a charm. The only problem is that the touch screen doesn't work. I do not have the original stylus but I have another one. Is the screen stylus specific? I was under the impression that I could also touch it with my finger. The reason I'm not entirely sure is because the only drivers I am missing are the video controller and I cannot find them anywhere. I can't even find the vista drivers.

Just finished upgrading an m275 to win7 for a client...all drivers are found automatically for windows except video, but you can just download the drivers from the gateway site unzip them and browse to that location when updating the driver. The install is OS specific for that driver, but the drivers will work in win7. I have all drivers installed, but I do not have a stylus, however my buttons do work.
