It will only heat up if power is being used, but it could also mean that the adapter is bad. check with a multi tester inside for red and outside for black, check to see if you are getting at least 15 volts or higher voltage. make sure you set the multitester to VDC, Thats Direct Current Voltage or DC voltage. if you are getting power thru the adpater head try wiggling the tip a bit to see if theres a broken wire inside the head Adapter head tends to break at the tip sometimes. if your getting power then you might have a broken adapter plug in the laptop, you might a suitable adapter plug at a electronic store or ebay, might need or reqiure some soldering on the board if you dont know how to solder i suggest you leave it to the PRO's. if no power coming from the adapter then time to replace the adapter, i figure adapter last about 1-2 years before they need replacing due to wear and tear and neglect. If you do not take care of your electronics they will not take care of you!. Good luck

My Gateway m275 tablet will not charge or power up even with it plugged in

At least a 50% chance the power pin inside the computer has been damaged. Taking apart a laptop and getting it back together correctly is a tough job . . . .The part (the power pin) is not that expensive ($ 5-10) but the labor is expensive. If you don;t feel up to the task, have it fixed by a professional and after it''s fixed get a CRD (Cable Retention Device) to keep from damaging the pin a second time.

Hard reset tablet

There should be a reset button on the bottom right corner on the back of the case. You may need a paper clip or something to reach in and press it. Make sure the unit is charged (using the AC adapter) and then press the reset and power for 4 seconds, then release the reset button.

Laptop Screen Dull

Look a the screen real close, if you see a faint dark version of the image, this could be a backlight issue, otherwise a screen cable or a logic board issue. Backlight repairs are somewhat difficult. As much as I would like to be able to tell you a quickfix that will solve backlight the problem, it's a pretty arduous repair that requires 1-2 hours for a trained person. It's feasible to do it yourself if you're tech savy, but you'll most likely have to google for guides that show you exactly how to replace the backlight step by step. Check on how to take the screen apart and make sure inverter is still connected properly. If so, you have a backlight issue. I work for Computer Repair NYC and i have to fix this problem a lot, it's so easy to break the lightbulb in the process.

Acer Travelmate 2200 laptop

Try taking the laptop battery out. You can remove the laptop battery by turning it over, you'll usually see some sliders at the bottom, slide them to the unlock position and you should be able to wedge your battery out. The battery usually comes in a very tall and thin rectangular shape. Once the battery is out, plug the laptop in through the mains power - this may solve your problem, if it does, you'll need a new battery if you wish to use it on the move. If it does not solve your problem, it is either a faulty power adaptor, or a faulty power supply on the motherboard of your laptop. A faulty power adaptor or battery is the best case scenario, as it's the cheapest to buy a replacement (although it's still expensive - $120 worth in the UK roughly). A faulty power supply on the mainboard generally means you'll need a replacement mainboard which is totally uneconomical, especially with the labour cost to fit it professionally. If the battery and power adaptor is not faulty, you might as well scrap it and get a new laptop. Good luck Tina!
