This can be removed by your Toshiba service centre. They have to call Toshiba for a response code to remove the BIOS security settings. There is no back door or work around for this.ThanksNic

I have a Toshiba Tecra M7 that won't boot and up until this morning nothing worked. This is what I've done so far this morning WHEN it does decide to boot. 1. Power up computer from off with ESC key. 2. Released ESC key, pressed F1. Unit went into the BIOS setup screen. In the BIOS page I changed the 1st boot to CDROM so that it will boot the OS disk No longer a blank screen and MICROCODE, CMOS, PIT, APIC, MEMORY AND HDD CHECKED OK. So, turned off and start up from CD to load the files Now it starts loading the files from CD but then froze and there is nothing on the screen once again. Now I'm back to square one. It won't boot up after the freeze...

Your hard drive may have gone south. Remove it and check with diagnostic software. Bad sectors in critical areas of operating system data will do this.

I replaced my Toshiba Tecra M4 tablet CMOS battery and I am still getting the error why is this and how do I fix it? I cant get passed the CMOS error when I boot the computer.

When you replace the CMOS battery, you must wait about 10 minutes with the old battery removed, before fitting the new one (if you had a problem with the error message before) - when you fit the new battery, plug the tablet in and don't turn it on - this will give the new battery a chance to power up all of the CMOS on the board and settle down. Then turn it on, wait for the error message about the date and time being wrong, set the time correctly and the problem has gone.

Power/plug problem Hi. I have a Toshiba tecra tablet M4 and love it but new problem: The little metal rod that the power cord plugs into/onto fell off!! I stuck it back on but it was loose and I had to wiggle the power cord to get the lights to come on [tech wiz here]. That worked for a while. Now no power at all. Can't charge the battery or use the machine. I REALLY don't want to buy a new one if this is a somewhat easy fix. I have no problem with a screwdriver and opening the back up, I just have no clue what to replace. Thanks in advance!!!! KAW

First you need to see if the dc plug looks like this it does its just a simple unplug and replace .

Toshiba tecra a1 bios password - Tablets & eReaders

Hi,If you are prompted for a password just after boot up and are unable to provide the correct password there is not much you can do about it. After 3 wrong trials the laptop will lock. The only solution to regain control of your(?) laptop is to take it to a Toshiba Certified Service Center to have the password removed, or changed. You may have to show proof of ownership.Hope it helps.Thank You for using FixYa.
