How do i change the cmos battery in a travelmate c110. The time and date and bios settings keep changing. Figure it needs a cmos battery. thanks

The cmos battery is exactly located beneath in between the touchpad and speaker, it's a meticulous job, you could see a twin cable leading through the keyboard area. After removing the keyboard, cut the battery wires at the edge of the old battery and replace the new sealed pack by soldering its wires to the same connection. Be cautioned not to break off the slim edges of the keyboard sides by attempting to reach the battery while lifting up top silver panel from the front near the Infrared.

Cmos battery for C110 TCI

The CMOS Battery is behinf the main battery behind a platic shield. The shield is relitivly fragile and glued around the edges. Care should be used removing it to prevent ripping. The battery itself is 3" flat pack glued to the case. Mine was wrapped in a black heat shrink with two wires exiting. The connector is under the keyboard. You will need to remove the 6 scres from the bottom of the case to release and remove the keyboard. The keyboard ribbon cable is attached through a ZIF socket. Be sure and release the cable before removimng the keyboard. Youll have to trace the CMOS battery leads to determine the correct connector. I found a Maxell ML2032 rechargable battery. Unfotunatly all the 3" flat pack batteries I have found are LITHIUM ION and not rechargeable. If I find a replacement I will post the information.

Acer C110 Tablet

The cheapest way is about £100 for a laptop company to replace the bios - having said that - the tablet is only worth about £250 in it's current format anyways - so not sure what to do as yet...I'd always be careful about flashing bios's especially if you do it ad-hoc - I'd only ever do it under instruction from Acer directly as they then have to take responsibility for it if it does not work...

Here is how I replaced it. CMOS battery is under computer battery. Take computer battery out, open the cover under it you will see the CMOS battery is in black plastive cover. Cut a line through the cover until you can reveal soldering point. Use a soldering gun to remove the old one and solder the new one in. Wrap up the cover. You can buy sodering gun for 14 quit. I would not choose the risk to break the computer plus hours to disassemble & reassemble the computer. Note: Time is money! The time I spent is 3 minutes.

I installed a new HD in my travelmate and now it wants a Password before I can rebuild the system , I have no password and previous owner has no idea!! I have the recovery CD pack. I have tried to clear the special small battery that runs the computer by taking it out for a while, , not the removable one, but that didn't work either.

Hi. Just want to clarify if the password you mentioned is password for the computer or is it HD password? If it is an HD password, store where you purchase the HD should provide you this password. It is standard that HD device by default doesnt have password especially if it is brand new.
