Well..each keyboard has a different mechanical strategy for how it's attached. Look under the bottom of the key that came off, and you'll see either a two hinged metal flange or a snap on insert approach. The two hinged deal takes a small blade screwdriver, and a pair of needle nose pliers, and a ton of patience to get it right, and ensure that the metal ears don't get destroyed.the snap on insert version is simpler, Tell me which you have and then we can proceed.

You did not mention what windows version you are running. Do you have a boot disk? Also, are you pressing F2 F12 or F10 or what other option work when you first turn on your compute? Once you are in the advance mode make sure the settings in the bios is set to boot from the USB before the hard drive. If you go into advanced options, you should be able to run a scan of your computer to find errors.

Power/plug problem Hi. I have a Toshiba tecra tablet M4 and love it but new problem: The little metal rod that the power cord plugs into/onto fell off!! I stuck it back on but it was loose and I had to wiggle the power cord to get the lights to come on [tech wiz here]. That worked for a while. Now no power at all. Can't charge the battery or use the machine. I REALLY don't want to buy a new one if this is a somewhat easy fix. I have no problem with a screwdriver and opening the back up, I just have no clue what to replace. Thanks in advance!!!! KAW

First you need to see if the dc plug looks like this http://www.laptopjacks.com/view_part/Toshiba-Laptop-DC-Power-Jack-TS312030.htmlif it does its just a simple unplug and replace .

Unmountable_boot_volume We have 10 tablets that we use in the field for real time charting (we are a hospice). These computers are then synced to the main back office. We have had intermittant problems with communication but in the last two weeks one computer's screen went black and we have not been able to get it started (tried a new battery). The other could not link to the back office and I got HP error messages re: scheduling, security and internet access. The messages recommended doing a recover which I began and soon received the subject message. I cannot seem to restart the computer-it goes to to recover mode and gives me the same error message. Any ideas?

There are 2 possible causes for that error1 - most likely the hard disk has died. replace it and reinstall.2 - the file system (even the one on the recovery partition) has been totally corrupted, a full reinstall from an external media is mandatory.

Need to fix AC adapter plug in

I'm trying to repair the same thing right now.to get the case apart, the hangup screws are under the keyboard. to remove the keyboard, you must remove the small plastic (1"x8") strip that has the power button and indicator leds on it.to remove it, go along the top of the keyboard, closest to the screen, there are 5 plastic tabs to be released, then pop only that side closest to the keyboard up, then, slowly work it around until it comes free. flip the keyboard towards you, and carefully remove its ribbon cable by first popping up the sockets (on the mb) retainer.then you can get those last screws out and have at it.peace!

I have two hp tc4200's that I bought for my son's. One of them the touchscreen will not rotate when in tablet mode and the screen turned black and I cannot get it to come back. You can hear the sounds and hear the laptop boot up correctly but there is no picture on the monitor. The second one the touch screen does not work at all. The touch buttons on the screen do not work either.

I had the same problem with mine and I fixed it by myself a couple days ago after troubleshooting for months! It was soo frustrating but then once I saw what it was I was like ohhhhh! Lol. Try taking the 4 screws from the little piece on the back and check to see if your screen came unplugged from the laptop base. My wire haf gotten so twisted that it pulled the plug out. Just turn the screen to untwist the wire and plug it back in :)
