Reset bios my laptop does not boot. I think I have to reset the bios. I was chang the RAM & HDD. but did not work. would you please help me.

There's no need to reset your BIOS, only you do is to set in your BIOS Setup to boot priority like for example First Boot Priority is your CD/DVD Rom Drive, if you got some Bootable System Disc then the Second Boot Priority is your Hard Disk Drive. Good luck!

Reset the bios on a compaq tc4200

I haven't tried it yet, but according to HP's "Maintenance and Service Guide" (Available in PDF from their Support website) you have to completely break down the computer, remove the mainboard and the CMOS battery should be located on its underside. Remove it for five minutes, replace and reassemble EXCEPT FOR BATTERY and turn it on under AC power only. I just purchased one that needs reset, but haven't received it yet, so I cannot attest to its effectiveness except that this is deirect from HP. Hope it helps!

I need to reset the bios on my Compaq TC1000. I tried removing the RTC battery and replacing as HP suggested but that didn't work, They then suggested I need to flash my bios. I cant find instructions for my TC100. Help Please?

To flash the BIOS you need to download the BIOS from a link which HP provides.. so contact them and tell them to provide you with the BIOS link.. You need to download the BIOS and install it.. However after removing the RTC battery I would suggest you to hold the notebook power button for 20 secs.. This should remove all the residua power.. I think it will remove the BIOS password... If it does not work then you could flash the BIOS.. What sayy??? :)

I NEED TO RESET THE BIOS ON A COMPAQ TC4200 - Compaq tc4200 Tablet PC

Try holding the power button for 30seconds. This might reset the BIOS settings. If this doesnt work the your gonna have to remove the CMOS battery inside the laptop. You will have to go through the HP service manual and figure out where it is.

HP 2710P will not power on!

Try power draining your computer first. remove battery and ac adapter, then press and hold power button for 15-20 sec. Expect no response since there is no power source. After that, try if pc will now turn on. If it still wont, possibly it will be needing a motherboard replacement.

The charging circuit doesn't seem to be working. The charge indicator LED is lit red (and has been for a long time). It sometimes goes out for a few seconds but then comes back on red. It does not seem like the battery is charging. I ALWAYS have this tablet computer plugged in to AC, and it is typically running straight for weeks on end. I RARELY use the unit portable in battery mode. I have tried, in the fairly recent past, to use the battery setup utility in the BIOS to reset the apparent "full" state of the battery but this operation fails because the charge circuit does not seem to be re-charging the battery. I am guessing the charge circuitry has failed in the tablet itself. Is this a repairable part or "board"? Where would I find one? What is it called? Does it have any identifying numbers? Any help you can give would be great!

Unfortunately, as far as I know, there is no "Replacement" part for this. It will have to be fixed by the Manufacturer. It isn't a "Part" per-say, but a circuit on the motherboard itself. If it is no longer working, then it is a hardware issue, and since it is a "Laptop" style computer, there is no way to simply fix it.

Techies, please help! I've been having problems with my Toshiba R15-S822... I get the BSOD when I try to load Windows, but I can start in Safe Mode just fine. I've tried multiple things - system restore, deleting newly installed programs, etc. but nothing worked. I backed up my files and decided to use the Recovery DVD (yes, it is the right DVD), but I get an error message that says "Wrong machine." Changed the boot priority in BIOS to make sure it boots from the CD-rom first, but I still get the same "wrong machine" message. I called Toshiba and they said it's likely a "low level BIOS" problem of some sort and that I would have to take it to a service center to fix it. It's such an old laptop but I like having it as a backup and using the tablet function on occasion...I don't really want to shell out any money to get it fixed. Are there any techies out there who have suggestions on how I can fix this? Thanks!

Toshiba support could be quite correct and service center solution the only one.You could try this from the command line window in safe mode.Open a command window and type CHKDSK /r (there is a space between K&r). It will tell you the drive is locked and would you like it to happen on reboot. Enter y then exit and reboot. It's got me out of trouble a few times.
