Acer Aspire 7720G Crystal Eye Webcam does not work

I've encountered the same problem on my laptop. I've VISTA SP2 installed. I checked my hardware device manager and there is an unknown usb device, this might be the webcam??? I tried all drivers from the acer site but nothing seems to work, sometimes (random) when I'm lucky the camera does work. Does somebody know how to check if the hardware is still ok? I contacted acer by email, but their response is very very slow.... I'm thinking this might be an internal cabling problem. If someone encountered simular problems with the crystal eye webcam please the me know whatthe solutio

Just purchased an acer aspire one, can get movie from external dvd play playback on media player & power dvd 8 but not sound. sound plays on cds & everything else, plays on movies downloaded online & can hear sounds, but not from the media player or dvd 8 (cyberlink) downloaded a trial version of another movie software from cyberlink & it works fine

AVS DVD Player is a free universal player that I put on all Acer Ones that I sell. It is an excellent player, that can go full screen and handle every format. It will even play VOB files which are dvd files "ripped" from dvd discs. I have never had a failure with this program.... http://www.brothersoft.com/avs-dvd-player-free-44678.html

Recovery Problems I need to perform a a recovery on this tablet laptop but the problem is the firewire cd/dvd drive doesn't work. I have two of thes Acer external firewire drives and neither works so it is probably the firewire port on the unit but the wires on these drives are notoriously flimsy. I tried doing a restore from the hidden partition drive that is on every Acer but the Alt F10 function does nothing. I even purchased a usb cd/dvd drive to try to boot the recovery CD from it but it won't recognize the drive. I was thinking I might try making a bootable usb thumbdrive from the recovery CD and then using the bios to boot from it. Running out of ideas though. The machine is still working pretty well it has ton's of corrupted installs on it and needs to be flushed. Can't find the handle though. :-)

The Tablets can be quite difficult to perform a reimage or recovery on as most bios versions on them do not recognise a USB device as bootable. My recommendation would be to obtain a Bootable Floppy disk that contains an imaging program. (GHOST. Powerquest etc). From here you may have 2 options available to you.1. Attempt to recover using the hidden partition on your hard drive.2. Recover from an image located via the network. You will need to ensure that a driver for your network card is also bundled into this install. Once this boothdisk has been created you will need to create a "shared folder" on another PC which contains the image you require. Once the bootdisk has loaded point yourself to the shared folder.Lastly - You may be able to find an updated bios version that allows boot from USB device.
