Upgraded mon pc dont shut off fan con to run

Computer doesn’t power down when users shut downIn some cases, Windows XP’s Setup program can misidentify the power management scheme in a computer’s BIOS as Advanced Power Management (APM) instead of Advanced Configuration Power Interface (ACPI). When this happens, users will notice that the computer no longer automatically powers down when they shut down Windows XP. Instead, they’ll see the message It Is Now Safe To Turn Off Your Computer and be forced to manually press the power button to turn off the computer. You can verify this problem by checking the power management configuration in two places—Device Manager and the Control Panel. To quickly access Device Manager, select Start | Run, type Devmgmt.msc in the Open text box, and click OK. When you see the Device Manager window, locate and open the System Devices item. If Setup identified the system as having an APM-compliant BIOS, it will be listed as a Standard PC in the System Devices tree. (If it were identified as having an ACPI-compliant BIOS, you would see it listed here as a Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System.)To check the power management configuration in the Control Panel, open the Control Panel from the Start menu. If the system is using Category View, select Performance And Maintenance and then click the Power Options icon. If the system is using Classic View, just click the Power Options icon. If Setup identified the system as having an APM-compliant BIOS, you’ll see an APM tab in the Power Options Properties dialog box. (If the system were identified as having an ACPI-compliant BIOS, you wouldn’t see an APM tab.)You may be able to fix this problem with a BIOS update. To begin, check with the computer manufacturer’s Web site to see if it’s providing the latest BIOS update. If you’re troubleshooting an off-brand computer, you may be on your own as far as tracking down the BIOS update. Here’s how.Once you obtain and install the BIOS update according to the manufacturer’s instructions, you must perform what I call a Refresh Installation, in which you reinstall Windows XP on top of an existing Windows XP installation. You must perform this reinstall operation because the power management features are tied to a special power management Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL). During the Refresh Installation procedure, Setup will completely redetect all installed hardware, including the updated BIOS, and rebuild the power management HAL as well as the part of the registry in which information about the installed hardware is stored.

Fan continues to run

I don't think a Mercedes coolant problem will fix your laptop. The fan on most laptops runs all of the time. Many are sensor driven and the fan speed will increase with processor activity. If your fan seems to be running okay, and is not making too much noise, you may just need to take the unit apart and clean out the dust bunnies. They will greatly affect the heating properties. If you need a service manual for disassembly, it is available at

I thought it was becuase of the ubuntu operating system they put on it so i tried deleteing it and when it boots up it still says ubuntu but when it boots and im on the home page there are no longer the top and bottom menu bars on there where you access the menu, applications, wifi, turnoff or restart options all thats gone!! I cant get the windows xp disk to run please help me i dont know what to do i just spent all this money on this thing for school and now i cant even use it. . Remember i do have the 3 original restore/recovery windows xp disks everytime i put it in the usb cdrom drive it takes me to file browser with the restore folder but it wont run the restore process

Hi First you need to make the USB CD-rom Drive as the first boot device by going to BIOS setup by tapping F2 when the system turns ON , after changing the boot order insert the first disc and restart the computer it should run from the disc.

Sony Tablet S flickering screen and often reboots. Since I had purchased this tablet, it was running fine. Then I started having a message for a general OS update I should do. I waited 2 or 3 months before running it cause I didn't wanna ruin my tablet. I read all the warnings before the execution and made sure I wouldn't lack battery during the process. Then I started the Upgrade. WOW the changes, in better for most but not for all. In the next couple of minutes, the screen started flickering every 2 to 5 minutes, stalls quite often and has to be rebooted regularly. Can last up to 3 days without rebooting but some other days, will reboot 4 to 5 times. I really don't understand what happened. It worked fine until I made this upgrade. Has someone experience the same. Thanks

I would reported to the company where I buy it to see if it can be fix or repair to save their good name?!!
