Tablet PC 2005 Input Panel won't work.

Are you pressing down firmly enough? If not, sounds like the digitizer may have a problem... The digitizer is the layer in front of the lcd, it's job is to pick up the signal from your pen and send it to the motherboard. The motherboard should have two connections to the screen, one to the lcd itself and another to the digitizer. They called the company they got the laptop from (Gateway in their case) and they were sent a new pen for free. Lenovo might do that if it's under warranty or you could buy a new pen. It could be a problem with the drivers, though, in which case I am not entirely sure what to do. Maybe reinstall?

It is possible to replace the hinge, but it is a couple hours of tricky work. If you are not comfortable completely dismantling your computer, I would take it to a repair shop. You can usually find the hinge on ebay. Just search for "thinkpad x230 tablet swivel hinge part".I replaced the hinge on my x61 tablet without any trouble, but I am very comfortable with repairing computers. Take lots of pictures to make sure you get it back together correctly, and keep track of where the screws go, there are a lot of them. Good luck! Here is the repair manual for the x230:

Laptop My son is going college majoring in business and we need to purchase him a laptop but can't decide between a MacBook running Windows and Office Professional (his first choice) or a Lenovo ThinkPad or Lenovo Tablet (X61). Which one would you recommend? Haven't heard too much about Lenovo any thoughts on that.

IBM sold off it's notebook line to LENOVO. The Thinkpads are excellent business machines and for the price of a Macbook that is dual-bootable, you can really do the Thinkpad up nicely. If he was going to college for a design or music or something like that I would go with the Macbook. Since he is going for business, go with the Thinkpad.
