The DVD drive for my Averatec C3500 does not eject.

Hi, Problem: The DVD drive on my Averatec C3500 does not eject. It stays locked up firmly inside of the case. It looks as though I'll have to swap out the drive unit. Symptoms: The CD/DVD drive will read CD's, but I have to pry the drawer open to use the drive; it will not eject a disk, either automatically through the system or manually, by using the "eject button" on the front of the drawer. Do I need to take the case apart to replace the DVD drive? If so, how do I open the case? Thank you, Cliff J. [email protected]

Remove dvd drive - Averatec C3500 Tablet PC

Get a paper clip and straighten half of it out. Now look for a small hole in the face of the DVD drive. If the drive is Trayless then there should still be a small hole in the dvd location..If the DVD has a tray make sure that the laptop is powered down, insert the Paper clip in to this hole and the DVD tray will pop open.. If the DVD inserts in to the drive(Trayless), Then make sure the laptop is on and insert in to the hole that will be in this same area.Thank you for your visit to

Will not boot even from recovery media disks

If you have an XP disk, or even one you can borrow, you might want to try to see if you can boot from that. I have one of those machines that I run with regular XP, I wish you well. A still small voice told me to get the extended warranty, and I am so grateful. Since buying mine in Nov 2004, it's gone in for factory warranty at least 12 different times.

Matshita DVD-Ram UJ-810 I/O Device Error with most DVDs Cds

We have had out Toshiba P25-S509 for a very long time. It's a great laptop and watching DVDs with a wide screen was great; That is, until the CD/DVD player was no longer recognized by the computer. We took it in (still under warranty) to have it fixed, only to not work again after a couple of months. Now YEARS have gone by and I have bought another Toshiba (M305D-S4831) which is great unless you try to reboot and it doesn't fully start up. That's for another review, not this one... So, back to the P25-S509 and YEARS later. We just received two 1GB memory cards, which are being used to replace the "stock" two 256 MB memory cards. Well, the computer is MUCH FASTER and THE DVD PLAYER FINALLY WORKS!!! Woo-Hoo! $98.00 investment in memory cards saved up from ditching the older Toshiba. Hope this review helps someone out there that might have had the same problem.
